May Sweatdown 2K25

The May Sweatdown 2K25 is here and we’re finally getting semi-consistent warm days!

The Sweatdown has existed since April of 2018 as a monthly collection of music I’ve been listening to. Sometimes it’s old tracks but it’s usually new music. Everything from indie to synthwave to rock to alternative and more. Every December is a culmination of the music I’ve listened to.

Here’s some thoughts on some of the artists and songs on the May Sweatdown 2K25 playlist:

Happy to see Emi Grace return with a single. One of my favourite new artists from 2024.

Also good to see Wuki with a nice little ditty.

Big fan of the drums in instant crush song STAB MY BACK which was the last track on their debut album I’M SORRY I DIDN’T BITE MY TONGUE it’s a good song overall of course but the drums are the standout for me.

Funky as hell track from Pink Skies who have a definite Tame Impala vibe to the vocals and sound but I think it’s just unique enough to appeal on its own without the comparison.

Social Order released their EP Miss You which I’ve already been a huge fan of Miss You, Waiting, and Shadows. Boys was one of my favourite songs of 2023 and Sometimes was my favourite songs of 2024. Excited to see what they do next and already love the work they did on the Miss You EP.

I feel like swim school will one day be huge so I would suggest getting on the train now. Really tight band with a lead singer that sounds like a siren sending your ship to the rocks.

Spotify keeps suggesting me LEAP to the point where I wonder if they are some fake band that Spotify makes a lot of money off or something. Or maybe the algorithm just thinks I’ll like them. If so it was right on Over & Out.
