June Sweatdown 2K25

The June Sweatdown 2K25 is here and the sun is shining and your electricity bill is about to increase. Let’s get sweating!

The Sweatdown has existed since April of 2018 as a monthly collection of music I’ve been listening to. Sometimes it’s old tracks but it’s usually new music. Everything from indie to synthwave to rock to alternative and more. Every December is a culmination of the music I’ve listened to.

Here’s some thoughts on some of the artists and songs on the June Sweatdown 2K25 playlist:

With the recent singles I am really hoping Kanadia releases a new album soon. Going Nowhere and Hold it Down are fantastic tracks. I still love their album June and think they are one of the best arguments I have along with Culture Wars that there’s still great rock and roll being made. You just have to look a little for it.

There are a lot of short songs this month (is TikTok the fault for this or just one of those months?) and it led to a lot of songs from artists I’ve never heard before just popping in, kicking a good song with a good vibe, and popping out. I feel this way on Butterknife by total tommy, Anything/Anyone by Jess Martins, NOVOCAINE by little image, and Flowers & Dirt by ALEXSUCKS.

My girl Emi Grace with another great track. Excited to see when she releases a full album of tracks. It appears she did a song with it’s murph and Arlo called Through My System that has been getting her good attention but I much prefer Known Better.

Welcome back Yukon Blonde it has been a wild. Wasn’t big on Shuggie but Colours of my Dreams is nice.

Finger by Mother Mother is absolutely a weird song and I wasn’t sure to put it on the list or not but it’s essential Mother Mother to make a song about ass fingering.

I placed Goodbye i by The Royal Foundry last because it’s a good final track (it’s the second last track on Be Kind. Rewind. since they had a Goodbye ii but it was good to end here. Excellent album too by Royal Foundry. Just came out last month. Be sure to check it out.
