April Sweatdown 2K25

The April Sweatdown 2K25 is here and do you miss the warmth? I certainly miss the warmth. What did the groundhog say again? I blame this on him. I’ll get you next time Wiarton Willie!

The Sweatdown has existed since April of 2018 as a monthly collection of music I’ve been listening to. Sometimes it’s old tracks but it’s usually new music. Everything from indie to synthwave to rock to alternative and more. Every December is a culmination of the music I’ve listened to.

Here’s some thoughts on some of the artists and songs on this month’s playlist:

Typical Ways is Culture Wars once again giving me one of my favourite rock songs. Either this or Heaven is my favourite song from their recent… recent… how have these guys never released an album yet? It’s wild.

I have TWO songs with Cowboy in the title. DEVORA‘s Drugstore Cowboy and Hotel Mira‘s Cowboy. Both fun songs.

Glad I found Chloe Parché song Otherside as it has one of my favourite choruses of the year so far.

Glad to see you back on my playlists Mt. Joy it has certainly been a while.

I thought When I Got You by Cash Cash and lovelytheband was just a nice cute electronic love song.

I’m sure I’ll see more songs from the Joel Plaskett birthday album. Arkells song is the first I’ve seen released from it and it’s a great cover. I had some friends back in the day (still have one or two) who were huge Plaskett Emergency fans back in the day. I think the guitar was better on Plaskett’s original but I won’t hold it against the Arkells.

Blue Stones released a solid album in METRO and I already had Your Master here. Hazy is definitely the second best song on the album.
