September Sweatdown 2K24

The September Sweatdown 2K24 is here, reminding you that summer is not yet over. Don’t let the chilly nights and mornings get to you!

I do these Spotify Playlists every month and try to feature mostly new music. I’ve been doing it since April of 2018. I’m proud of the fact it’s one of the few consistent things I do every month. I might not work out as much as I’d like to. I might not write as much as I’d like to. But I absolutely do these playlists every month.

Here’s some thoughts on some of the artists and songs on this month’s playlist:

I have really enjoyed Sick Love’s album Champagne. I highly recommend it. Lots of great songs. I was obsessed with Body Clock but now I think Jacknife is the best song on the album. There’s a sleaze to the guitar, almost scumbag, probably scumbag? The song is just dripping in confidence of what it wants to do. Love that chorus. Sick Love is definitely the best new band I’ve found in 2024.

Great to see Kanadia release new music. I’ve been singing the praises of their album June for a while now.

I know Daft Pretty Boys is an old song. I just got into it again this summer.

I get the jokes about The Dare and I absolutely agree with them. Including this gem:

But All Night still fucks. I would have danced to this at The Loop in the mid 2000s.

Indiana Pickle Farm has 999 monthly listeners at the time of me posting this. With a band name like that and a song this good? They should have more.

Youth by Kasador came out in 2023 but they released Crawling as a single on August 6 and it made me dip into Youth and I liked R.I.P. Me Down better. Still a good album! Check them out. Good Kingston kids.

I had to put Fionn and Bronte Alva together on this playlist. They should tour together. I would see that show.

Teenagers Forever by DURRY is yes, another song about adults feeling arrested in their development and realizing they don’t feel like proper adults. Yes these songs relate to me very much. Yes I know this is a worrying trend and I should consider what that means. No I will not take any questions at this time.

Strawberry Blues by VEAUX has been bouncing around for a year and I’m finally putting it on a playlist. It’s a great song. Thought it was Portgual. The Man the first few times I heard it. What a great chorus.

As always you can find the playlist on Spotify. Be sure to follow all of the bands you enjoy listening to and add them to your like lists so they come up on your future Spotify plays. Many of these bands are barely struggling to get any money from Spotify, especially due to their new stupid rules, so every spin helps.

Thank you for listening. Photo is from Beamers Falls in Grimsby, Ontario. My dad and I went for a hike. We got to a point where we had to just turn back and instead decided we could just climb up the side. We both nearly died. Good bonding moment and evidence of how dumb we can be.
