September Sweatdown 2K25

The September Sweatdown 2K25 is here on Spotify to remind you there’s only a few weeks left of summer. Summer didn’t end right at August! I know it’s cold in the morning but I swear!

The Sweatdown has existed since April of 2018 as a monthly collection of music I’ve been listening to. Sometimes it’s old tracks but it’s usually new music. Everything from indie to synthwave to rock to alternative and more. Every December is a culmination of the music I’ve listened to. These playlists may move off Spotify at the end of 2025.

What’s Here For September

I have Gunship here even though the song came out in 2023 because they finally released a music video for Tech Noir 2 back in July. If you’re old enough to remember gaming in the 80s/90s or at least were interested in it in how it really was with a glowing blue Commodore 64 screen and cartridges strewn across the floor? This video is a great time capsule in clay. It actually brought me back to an old childhood memory, I don’t even know whose house I was in anymore (might have been a neighbour, classmate, family member, can’t remember that much detail!) but I remember going to someone’s house and they had a Commodore 64. The big floppy disks, the whirring machine, the screen you had to type on before Ghostbusters would play? What a time.

Once again everything Emi Grace touches turns to gold. I love her vocals on this song.

When I saw that Ash Molloy covered Live Forever by Oasis I think I originally skipped it because it was a little, I don’t know, “hey Oasis got back together so I’m going to cover them” which hey, when you’re a new or growing artist? Anything you can do to get attention I respect! But it had me… unsure. And then I listened to it this week and I wish I wasn’t jaded when it came out. Ash has a really great cover of Live Forever here. She makes it her own.

I’m very excited for the new album by Kanadia and this is just another great track on what’s going to be a really great record.

I don’t know where these lads from SOAP are from. Based on touring in the United Kingdom I figure they must be from there but you can’t hear the accents one bit in the song. They don’t sound from any era either. I’ve really been digging what I hear from them.

It’s really great that at the same time Nine Inch Nails is putting out some of their best stuff in years that Filter is also running on all cylinders. Would love to see them tour together.

I love you Brooke from Junior Varsity you are so pretty. Love the song too I swear. I’m allowed to have a crush at 40 shut up!
