August Sweatdown 2K24

The August Sweatdown 2K24 is here, as the carousel of the summer still keeps going.

I do these Spotify Playlists every month and try to feature mostly new music. I’ve been doing it since April of 2018. I’m proud of the fact it’s one of the few consistent things I do every month. I might not work out as much as I’d like to. I might not write as much as I’d like to. But I absolutely do these playlists every month.

Here’s some thoughts on some of the artists and songs on this month’s playlist:

That JPEGMAFIA album might be the best industrial rock album I’ve heard in years and it isn’t even really industrial rock.

With MONOWHALES breaking up I was sad to lose out on a band but then Sick Love comes into my life with a similar sound to fill the void in my music heart. I’ve been enjoying their album Champagne for the past week.

So Rusty. Rusty is a song from the mid 1990s. It’s an old Canadian alternative rock band. I have been listening to it because I’ve been on a Canadian alt rock kick and I don’t remember the song or the band. I thought something recent slipped onto the list. It still sounds great today.

The Happy Return bringing back building a song to a beautiful crescendo. I love everything about the song. I love when so much attention is paid to every element of a song. Once the title is said and the guitars kick in the song is halfway done and you feel like 10 minutes went by in a good way.

I like Guess, I like 365, and I like Girl, so confusing. That’s my contribution to the Brat conversation.

Many of these bands are barely struggling to get any money from Spotify, especially due to their new stupid rules, so every spin helps.
