July Sweatdown 2K24

The July Sweatdown 2K24 is here, reminding you to enjoy your shadow. It’s the only thing cool about you in this heat.

I do these Spotify Playlists every month and try to feature mostly new music. I’ve been doing it since April of 2018. I’m proud of the fact it’s one of the few consistent things I do every month. I might not work out as much as I’d like to. I might not write as much as I’d like to. But I absolutely do these playlists every month.

Here’s some thoughts on some of the artists and songs on this month’s playlist:

I highly encourage people to see Fake Shark live as I think they are even better live than on wax. Do we say on wax anymore? I don’t care. Never thought a song called bummer would be so much fun. Definitely see it live!

talker released a new album in June called I’m Telling You The Truth and it’s quite good. Return to Sender has my favourite guitar work on the album. Give the whole album a spin but let this be your way in the door.

Toy Soldiers is one of my favourite 80s songs. So much that I used to like the Toy Soldiers song that Eminem did just because it had the chorus. Martika has one of the most explosive voices and while this doesn’t have the same explosion, it changes it up with more guitar and aggression which works for the song. Good work by All The Damn Vampires and Andy James.

I enjoyed Thom Powers new album but I hadn’t really put anything from it since November Sweatdown 2K23 because it’s hard to vibe with a sweatdown playlist. I do like The Big Feel the most from it so I felt like I had to get it on a playlist.

As always you can find the playlist on Spotify. Be sure to follow all of the bands you enjoy listening to and add them to your like lists so they come up on your future Spotify plays. Many of these bands are barely struggling to get any money from Spotify, especially due to their new stupid rules, so every spin helps.
