I do these Spotify Playlists every month and try to feature mostly new music. I’ve been doing it since April of 2018. I’m proud of the fact it’s one of the few consistent things I do every month. I might not work out as much as I’d like to. I might not write as much as I’d like to. But I absolutely do these playlists every month.

The Challengers Original Score is my early front runner for best album of the year, if you can call an Original Score an album. I would consider it one of the best scores Trent and Atticus have ever made if not for them putting that dumb kids choir song on it. Doesn’t need to be there. Get rid of the kids.

I actually saw Hot Water Music last weekend and in preparation was listening to their new EP. It was a great show along with Quicksand and Off With Their Heads. Wasn’t familiar with any of the bands really until a week before going. It was a pretty interesting experience. Seeing The 1975 in November and Hotel Mira in February, I had been feeling like the old man in the club surrounded by teenagers or “barely adults” but going to this song, for a band that was on their 30th anniversary tour? Baby I felt young again. I was one of the young old ones. Old doesn’t mean weak though because the pit was full of grey foxes just throwing elbows. Got to watch two old men almost scrap because they were pushing each other too hard. What a time.

Every once in a while I get a new, “song I listen to non stop at the gym” and it kind of kills the purpose of a playlist if you only listen to one song but Two Graves by Anberlin has been what keeps me pumped up at the gym for the past two weeks. I like to keep these lists to new music but I had to include it. That and “Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover” by Sophie B. Hawkins which just popped in my head randomly one day and I started spinning it every day.

I just learned this week that DREAMCAR was a thing. I feel like I should have known No Doubt and AFI had a synthwave baby. Better late than never!

Many of these bands are barely struggling to get any money from Spotify, especially due to their new stupid rules, so every spin helps.
